Letter from Father Richard
Thursday, June 26, 2003
Dear Parishioners,

Summer is finally here. Thank heavens! Each year, for the past thirty-six years, summertime at the Old Mission includes our Fourth of July Arts and Crafts Festival, the parish’s major fundraiser. This year is no exception as we gear up for number thirty-seven this coming Friday. We are excited to have more than 120 artisans participating with many beautiful and unique items available for purchase. This year’s raffle prizes include a seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise, a two-night stay in Las Vegas (Fr. Vince wants this one!), and a set of Magellan’s III luggage. We will also have fabulous food and great entertainment for the whole family. Hope to see you there!

Today, the archdiocese recognizes, embraces and celebrates our young adults. We are grateful for the gifts, talents and leadership they bring to our Church. May they, like saints Peter and Paul, boldly live out their faith and lead us to “being a new church.”
Summer blessings! Pat

Dear Parishioners,

Today, we celebrate the central mystery of our faith—the Most Holy Trinity. Rooted in this divine mystery is our own self-understanding as persons of communion and mission. We are called to live in harmony and peace for the sake of bringing God’s love to a world in desperate need. We are called to be an ever more relational Church for the sake of building a more relational world.
It’s time for us to get serious about the 37th annual Fourth of July Art Festival. We need your help! Please stop by the table this morning to volunteer your services. Thanks!

We are so pleased to have the St. John’s Boys Choir here this coming Wednesday evening. They are based at St. John’s Benedictine Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota. Join us, you will be glad you did!

Finally, we pray God’s blessings on all of our fathers today. May their example of faith and love ever shine forth.
Love, Pat

Dear Parishioners,

Peace and all Good! Today’s beautiful feast of Pentecost will bring the Easter Season to a close. Like those on the first Pentecost, we have been “sealed with the gift of the Spirit.” Energized by the Holy Spirit, may our lives proclaim the saving power of God.

Friday, June 13th, is the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua. I invite you to come and celebrate this feast day with a festive Mass at 5:30 pm in the church. Following Mass we will have a traditional blessing and distribution of lilies with a reception to follow.

Each week during this month, we celebrate special days in the Church calendar. June 15th is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The following Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, Finally, on the last Sunday, we celebrate Saints Peter and Paul.
Happy celebrating! Love, Father Vince

Dear Parishioners,
Today we celebrate with gusto the Solemnity of the Ascension. Jesus has gone to glory with the Father, and sends us another Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, as our advocate, who will be with us until Jesus returns in glory.
This week is the final week for our Taize Prayer and the Rosary for Peace. If you have not made it to these beautiful Easter prayer liturgies, do try to come this week. You will be glad that you did!
Don’t forget this afternoon’s concert.
Love,
Pat
